Hennebery Eddy Architects

Within Hennebery Eddy’s 75-person firm is our specialized Historic Resources Group, a team of in-house experts that sees historic projects through identification, documentation, planning, and implementation. The group includes LEED-accredited, licensed historical architects and preservation design staff, cross-trained in materials conservation and architectural history — all who meet or exceed the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Qualifications for Historic Preservation Professionals. We invest substantial time and resources into learning the latest tools, technology, and practices for best investigating, evaluating, and treating existing and historic buildings.

Our historic portfolio includes projects across the country and is characterized by a well-crafted, thoughtful approach that respect their context, are future-focused, and inspire excellence. We bring deep experience preparing more than 100 condition assessment and historic resource documents over the past decade for the federal government, national and state parks, and higher education clients.

Local, Regional & National Knowledge
Our historical architects have experience sitting on city design and historic landmark review commissions and understand the way projects that are proposed in historic districts are evaluated from a review body’s point of view. Their in-depth knowledge of the U.S. Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and current preservation best practices helps clients to achieve appropriate and compatible results. Hennebery Eddy has ongoing experience working with State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO) in several states.

Conservation Services
Through a combination of historical research, in situ investigation, and laboratory analysis under a stereomicroscope, our team provides in-house architectural finishes analysis, including metal and wood finish identification and paint color history and color matching.

Preservation Planning
Our team of preservation specialists has significant experience in performing the variety of review, research, and assessment tasks required to fully understand a historic resource before making appropriate short- and long-term treatment recommendations.

Condition Assessments
Hennebery Eddy’s Historic Resources Group has completed more than 60 condition assessments in the past 10 years for local, state, and federal agencies, documenting deficiencies and recommending appropriate treatment alternatives for historically designated and eligible buildings.
