RevitalizeWA Session Proposal

We are delighted to announce that we are seeking proposals for sessions from speakers and/or panels wishing to present at RevitalizeWA 2023, held October 4-6 in Vancouver, WA.

RevitalizeWA is Washington’s annual statewide conference focused on the continued care of place through historic preservation, placemaking, and economic development, brought to you by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation and the Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation. RevitalizeWA allows preservationists, planners, downtown development professionals, and anyone who cares about place to dive deep into creative ideas, build their network, and inspire new solutions.

As RevitalizeWA continues to draw more interest, there are increasing opportunities to both grow the conference and offer more diverse and engaging experiences for attendees. Our vision for RevitalizeWA includes unique venues, interactive workshops, and many opportunities for attendees to network and engage in the local community. If any of these topics spark your creativity, we certainly encourage you to share your ideas within this proposal.

Guiding Questions

At the heart of caring for place is caring for people. As place professionals, our work ties together our inherent desires to connect with other humans and to experience sense of place. Through this conference, we want to think more deeply about what that looks like as we dive into the intersection of preservation, housing and livability, small business opportunity, placemaking, community wealth, and sustainability.

Here are just a few of the questions on our minds:

  • How can place-based initiatives contribute to a future that intentionally draws in communities that have been excluded from our work?
  • What does it look like to embrace change and new opportunities while also maintaining historic meaning and resources?
  • When it comes to addressing national trends and crises (e.g. housing, climate) that manifest in our own neighborhoods, what local tactics and partnership are already working — and what more is needed?

We invite you to join us in addressing or even just continuing to thoughtfully ask these questions by submitting a proposal to host an individual presentation, a panel, or facilitated group discussion. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
