CLARK | BARNES

Founded in 1993, CLARK | BARNES has extensive experience providing historic resource services to our diverse clientele. We provide a full scope of services from historic reports and minor consultation to full rehabilitation of landmarked properties. Our firm has a proven track record of working with existing buildings and has grown our Historic Studio to support this work. We have projects in small towns, national parks, and large urban areas across the United States and Canada. We work collaboratively with local preservation boards, the State Historic Preservation Offices, and the National Park Service. Our standard of success is exceeding our clients’ goals while being responsible stewards of the built and natural environment.

Our staff includes Architects, Interior Designers, and Planners with project teams often comprised of a mix of disciplines. This allows us to work collaboratively and think differently. Our emphasis on delivering practical, high-quality projects begins in pre-construction where our focus on design, detail, budget, and schedule ensures that our projects are successful all the way through to the end-user’s experience.

We are experts in the preservation and rehabilitation of historic structures. Our services include full architectural and interior design, construction administration, historic reports and surveys, seismic/structural upgrades, National Register of Historic Places nominations, local and national historic tax incentives, and local landmark applications. We have secured over $30 million in tax benefits for our clients.

At CLARK | BARNES, our Historic and Interior Design Studios see each project as a unique challenge requiring innovative solutions. While our clients are our top priority, it’s also rewarding to receive recognition from those in the industry. Our awards for historic projects include:
– 2017 NAIOP Redevelopment/Renovation of the Year – The Publix
– 2017 Historic Seattle Best Rehabilitation Award – The Publix
– 2017 Washington State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) Award for Outstanding Rehabilitation – The Publix
